About Us <
Main Line Health Imaging has consistently been at the forefront of radiology services and technology in the Delaware Valley and Philadelphia region. The equipment and technology we employ
makes early detection and diagnosis of disease and other ailments faster, more accurate and more reliable than ever before
-- and that allows us to help more people live longer, healthier and happier lives.
Below you'll find information on some of the groundbreaking imaging devices and procedures that we use everyday.
 |
24/7 Web Access to Patient Images and Information Main Line Health Imaging utilizes the Picture Archival and Communications System (PACS) -- a filmless, high-definition radiologic technology network. With PACS, radiologists and physicians can simultaneously
access images at any time, from any location, through their computers.
PACS allows physicians immediate, convenient 24-hour access to patient images for clinical review or consultation. This digital
technology offers real-time viewing. With our secure web-based service, physicians can access a patient's complete digital
record via the Internet in seconds. Images can also be stored on computer or burned onto a CD for the patient or a referring
physician.

3 Tesla MRI Main Line Health Imaging was among the first facilities in the Philadelphia region and one of the few in the nation to offer
the exceptional power of 3 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging. With twice the field strength of a conventional magnet, 3T MRI
quickly captures images with a level of detail and clarity never before possible for more precise diagnoses, better pre-surgical
planning and enhanced patient care.
3T MRI's higher-field strength improves spatial resolution, resulting in exceptionally clear, detailed images that enable
delination of fine anatomic details and physiological parameters. The technology makes it possible to characterize subtle
abnormalities and, in some cases, to avoid more invasive techniques.
Benefits of 3T MRI include:
- Higher resolution, increased clarity and detail
- Increased sequencing speeds, thus reducing scan time without sacrificing image quality
- Same day studies
- Improved patient comfort
- Enhanced imaging capabilities for cardiovascular, neurological and musculoskeletal diagnoses
3T MRI is particularly useful in diagnosing diseases of the breast. For certain patients, this examination may help determine
the extent of disease and influence treatment decisions. It is also used as a problem-solving tool when mammogram and ultrasound
results are inconclusive.

GE EXCITE MRI This new technology captures high-resolution images with unparalleled speed, providing physicians with greater clinical confidence
and greater patient comfort. EXCITE offers higher-quality diagnostic information from virtually every part of the body --
and up to FOUR TIMES FASTER than conventional MRI scanners. This is especially good news for physicians attempting to capture
high-resolution images from moving internal body parts. EXCITE helps radiologists diagnose a wide range of conditions, including
heart and vascular disease, stroke, abdominal and brain disorders and problems in the knee, shoulder, ankle and wrist. To
accommodate patient preferences, we offer both open and closed scanners.

 |
GE LightSpeed 16-Slice CT Scanner We offer the most advanced equipment available in computed tomography (CT) scanning. The GE LightSpeed 16-Slice CT Scanner provides radiologists with highly-detailed views of the human body in
seconds. This new technology assists physicians in early detection of lung and other cancers and in evaluating whether the
cancer has spread. For heart patients, the16-Slice CT Scanner offers new views of the cardiac chambers, coronary arteries
and blood vessels that may reduce the need for invasive procedures, such as catheterization.

PET Scanning Positron Emission Tomography (also known as "PET") scanning is a relatively new, revolutionary imaging system which provides your physician with powerful,
vivid images of the human body and critical diagnostic information that other imaging tests cannot provide. PET provides critical
diagnostic information by evaluating chemical and physiological changes in organs and tissues, allowing for earlier detection
of disease. Its most common applications are in oncology, neurology and cardiology where this vital diagnostic information
can alter the course of treatment. Main Line Health Imaging was one of the first in the nation to offer this exciting technology...and
it's available right here in your own backyard.

Full-Field Digital Mammography Main Line Health Imaging was the first in the region to offer this technique for producing a computerized digital mammogram , allowing radiologists to lighten, darken and magnify areas on the image for greater clarity and accuracy. When combined
with computer-aided detection (CAD) hardware and software (see below), radiologists can take a digital second look at films...and
that has been shown to increase the cancer detection rate by as much as 20%.

 |
R2 Technologies' ImageChecker Although mammography is the most effective method of screening for breast cancer, interpretation of screenings is challenging.
ImageChecker is a computer-aided detection (CAD) system that assists radiologists in detecting breast cancer by digitalizing
and then analyzing mammograms for possible abnormal findings. ImageChecker highlights areas on the mammogram that contain
features associated with cancer, allowing physicians to make earlier and more accurate diagnoses than ever.

 |
Minimally-Invasive Biopsy Procedures In addition to our mammographic services, our dedicated breast radiologists offer both MRI-guided and ultrasound-guided biopsies
of the breast in which a small needle is inserted to remove a small amount of a suspected lump or tumor for diagnosis. Both
procedures are performed under local anesthesia by our radiologists.

Ultrasound High-resolution ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves that "echo" off the body to create pictures. Ultrasound can safely and painlessly examine
many parts of the body such as the kidneys, liver, spleen, pancreas, brain, heart and hips -- but perhaps the best known use
of ultrasound is to evaluate the condition of a fetus in the mother's womb. At Main Line Health Imaging, ultrasounds are performed
on advanced GE equipment by certified and experienced ultrasonographers under the supervision of a board-certified radiologist.
Today's ultrasound machines return extremely detailed images in real time.

DEXA Scanning Bone densitometry is a simple, painless procedure that measures bone mineral density, an accurate predictor of osteoporosis.
The radiologists at Main Line Health Imaging use a Dual-Energy X-ray Absorption (or DEXA ) machine to send low-dose X-rays through the bones to measure their density and strength so they can determine your risk
of developing fractures.
